A big QoL modpack to increase the overall quality of the game, improve the graphics, and other stuff. Included in the download as a separate install is Daughters of Ash, a overhaul and difficulty mod.
For details on each specific mod, scroll down. There is a list of every mod describing what they do, with links to their original download pages.
This Modpack was put together May 2024, and i substantially recommend it. The fan community has entirely abandoned DS1 for the now numerous later gamers in the fromsoft series, and i don't see any mods dethroning this even for the next 5 years. Updates to the QoL Pack mods will be not worth chasing the latest version for, but you may find interest in going after the latest version of daughters of ash (IF it updates, although the final version was in 2022 with no signs of any further updates, so i have no reason to think updates will happen anytime soon). If there was something to improve, it would be in finding additional QoL mods to include. I expect, MAYBE one to appear over the next 5 years, but i doubt it.
To make installing the modpack much easier, the download comes with a mod tool called DSR Texture Packer, with all mods pre-placed in their correct locations.
To apply the modpack, after downloading run DSR-TPUP.exe and set the game directory (folder). (For steam users, you can find your game folder by right clicking the game in steam, go to properties, the installed files tab, and click browse). After setting the Game Directory, just click Repack and it will install the QoL Modpack! You can tell the mod pack is working without loading a save file because the loading screen for the title screen will show the Nito from the Nito loading screen mod.
Some mods that were chosen NOT to be included.
Clean hud - The inventory looks horrible, and there are better HUD mods.
DS3 SFX replacement. - a video showed it off, and it's kind of terrible.
Better Bonfires - a tiny amount of QoL. Unfortunately, there's bad cheater parts to, and so it will get you banned.
No Requirements for Warping or DLC Access - Probably bans you online, and not compatible with daughters of ash.
1: The "You NEED these installed for DSR to run properly" folder is not a joke. It's 2 Microsoft redistributables. It's complex tech stuff so i won't try to explain, just install them. If you already have installed (most people do) the install will fail and thats fine you can ignore it. If your missing them, DSR texture packer won't work properly.
2: If you want to play online, don't install Daughters of ash (or any other gameplay mods) while playing online, you will be banned. The main modpack is online safe, and daughters of ash is included as a separate install. To play Daughters of Ash safely, change to offline mode on the title screen before loading a character or hitting new game.
3: The Nito loading screen mod is only included so you can tell if the mods are actually applied or not before hitting new game. It's purely cosmetic.
