Dark Souls Remastered
QoL & HD Graphics Modpack + Optional Difficulty Mod
Put together in May 2024, and rechecked for any new mods to add in Jan 2025, this modpack was made for the return to darksouls yearly reddit events. I looked through EVERY mod on nexus mods to make the best online safe modpack, while also optionally compatible with Daughters of Ash (both the largest overhaul mod by a landslide, AND the largest difficulty mod for my fellow masochists). It includes both popular HD graphics mods, and some awesome very old & tiny mods found many pages deep into nexus mods that somehow still work. I personally tested everything for compatibility, and I hope you love this modpack!
Mods were chosen most importantly if they are online safe. Unlike some later souls games, there are not tons of users commenting as to what QoL gameplay affecting mods are online safe. As such this modpack only includes QoL that is graphical in nature, such as changing the icons for usable soul items to display how many souls they give, or replacing status effect icons to better represent what they actually do.
=============================== INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS ============================
1: (DO NOT SKIP) Run both Microsoft installs in the "you need these for DSR" folder. If an install fails, it means you already have it installed so don't worry :D
2: In the QoL Modpack folder run DSR-TPUP.exe (Dark Souls Remastered Texture Packer) and set the game directory (folder). (For steam users, you can find your game folder by right clicking the game in steam, go to properties, the installed files tab, and click browse).
3: Just click Repack and it will install the entire Modpack! This is because i already pre-placed all the mods into the "Texture Override" folder in the correct locations.
Tip: The modpack is working if all loading screens (including loading the title screen) have a cute nito running animation :3
4: (Optional) If you want to play Daughters of Ash, go into the Daughters of Ash install folder and run InstallDSDoA, thats it!

Daughters of ash is not online safe. To play it without being shadow banned, go to the title screen and change to offline mode before selecting new game or loading a character. If you do get shadow banned, It doesn't appear on your steam account, and you can still play, you just can't play with other people.
A full faithful texture replacement for maps, objects and enemies. Created using a mix of hand made textures and ESRGAN upscaling tech. Compatible with overhaul mods, safe for online use. Explicitly Compatible with daughters of ash.
Replaces the low resolution menu graphics with improved versions upscaled via ESRGAN.
Replaces the status effect icons to new ones that more accurately represent what the fuck the status effects are actually doing.
Replaces the ridiculously intense white fog effect that covers the screen when resting at a bonfire with a more refined transparent wave effect.
Changes the fog gate fog to be more transparent like demon souls, making it easier to see if there is a boss room on the other side or not.
Edits the image for usable souls so they display their soul value. Does not include boss souls.
Adds a cute chibi nito running animation to the loading screen. I chose to include this mod so you can easily tell if the modpack is working, as you can see him when loading the title screen.
Daughters of Ash is a massive re-imagining and expansion of Dark Souls. It features new bosses, enemies, characters, storylines, weapons, and items, expanded lore, and many new secrets. It offers both modified and brand new content, much of which cannot be discovered in one play-through. Daughters of Ash has more overall content than the original game and is much more complex, with more dynamic story events and branching paths to take throughout the game. It expands and refreshes the experience by modifying the game's event scripts, placement data, and entity logic. It was created with more than one thousand hours of work throughout 2017 and 2018 by one very masochistic programmer with the wonderful tools and loving support of the Dark Souls modding community.
Altho other overhaul mods exist, they are far smaller in scope. This is obviously the best of the bunch. Unlike most overhaul mods, this is for people already experienced with dark souls 1 after a fresh experience.
Unlike all other mods, this is a gameplay mod, so using this mod while online will get you banned.

The inventory looks horrible! There are better HUD mods >:(

A tiny QoL mod. Unfortunately, there's bad cheater parts to it, and so it will get you banned.
Probably bans you online, but also not compatible with daughters of ash so i'm not even going to test it.
